JB Roofing delivered a fast-track re-roofing programme at Rusholme’s Sure Start Children’s Centre, replacing ageing concrete tiles with Britmet Slate 2000 metal tiles across a substantial roof area. Working to a tight schedule and an occupied site, our team upgraded the roof covering and reinforced the internal gutter using a Polyroof liquid-applied system to improve durability and eliminate leakage risks. The result is a high-performance, low-maintenance roof designed to withstand British weather while preserving the Centre’s smart, heritage-style appearance.

Before We Began.
The original concrete tile roof was nearing the end of its service life, with increased water-ingress risk and maintenance costs. The internal gutter presented a known weak point, requiring a robust, fully bonded solution to secure long-term waterproofing. Any works needed to be completed quickly and safely, with minimal disruption to staff, parents and children.
Completed Work.
The roof was transformed with Britmet Slate 2000—a lightweight, durable metal tile system that delivers the look of natural slate with superior weather resistance and reduced structural load. All perimeter details, penetrations and junctions were renewed for a neat, compliant finish. The Polyroof liquid coating was applied to the internal gutter to create a seamless, fully bonded waterproof lining, strengthening a critical drainage area.
